Precast concrete arch is ready for installation and it weighs 170 tones.

Installation of the first precast arch in the site on 30/4/2018
The smallest arch is 20 meters and the largest arch is 39 meters.
The total number of precast arches between 804-810.

A centralized water tank which supplies water required for cooling of the terminal building, will have a capacity of 5,200m3 of water storage. Excavation for the facility has been completed.

Construction of Fence Type 1

PVC Waterproofing works for terminal 2 foundation

One of the initial activities was clearing and grubbing of the construction site, to remove the 200mm of top soil containing organic material. A total of around 2 million m2 area has been cleared and grubbed by February 2017.

Terminal 2 has an overall of 270,000m2 of lean concrete works. This activity has commenced in February 2017 from North wing of the terminal building. First foundation concrete pour is expected to be by end of March 2017.

A 9,500m2 building where all the cooling equipment for the terminal building are installed. Excavation for this facility is commenced in February 2017

Project Sign Board Installed

A 600m2 of temporary offices for MPW has been constructed along with shaded car park and other essential facilities. These have been operational since January 2017.

A temporary Contractor’s office with the facilities like canteen, clinic etc were also constructed.

Terminal Building preparation for foundation Concrete

Concrete Works for Permanent MPW Offices

A utility tunnel connecting terminal 2 with central plant building and water tanks will be constructed. Total length of this utility tunnel is around 3.5km. Excavation has commenced in December 2016.

Demolition activity commenced in November 2016 and construction of fence type 1 has been substantially completed. Total length of fence type 1 is 3.2km, fence type 2 is 6.4km and fence type 3 is 4.6kms.

Excavation for the terminal 2 building has commenced in November 2016. Works includes a total quantity of 1.8mn m3 of earth to be moved.

Further to the site handover on 28 August 2016, topographical survey, subsurface utility survey and additional site investigations were carried out.
